PCOS & Our Bodies

Welome! OurPCOS is a place for females with PCOS to come and meet women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, find healthy recipes and workout routines, learn more information on PCOS, or just receive support! Disclaimer: I am neither a doctor nor nutritionist, but will answer questions to the best of my knowledge and research, however, it is best to consult with your doctor before starting any diet plan, cleanse, and/or supplements. All articles are sourced to the original post. No recipes, information, or articles are mine unless stated otherwise. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common female endocrine disorders that is affecting women in numbers as high as one out of ten, although many cases remain undiagnosed because symptoms differ from one woman to another. While one woman may experience a range of symptoms, another may have little to none. PCOS is a condition in which the sex hormones in a female’s body are imbalanced, which can cause cysts on the ovaries, weight gain, changes in menstrual cycle, trouble getting pregnant, and other problems. If left untreated, it can lead to heart disease and endometrial cancer. At this time PCOS is not curable but with medication, exercise, and healthy eating, the symptoms can be treated.

There have been quite a few new followers within the past couple weeks, so I would like to welcome you all and say hello, as well as previous followers who have been around for a while! If you have any questions, would like advice, or just to chat, please feel welcome to send a message! If you would like to hear experiences from others, you may also send a question and I’ll post it as a Q & A so others can answer.

To meet others with PCOS and read a little about their experiences, you may want to check out the My PCOS Page to see people’s submissions, if you would like to submit to the page, just fill out this questionnaire and submit!

If you would like to see a post I made in September for PCOS Awareness Month, it gives a list of symptoms, risks, and more information, read it here.

OurPCOS has had quite a lot of new followers over the past week, but the follower count is stuck at the same number. Anyone else dealing with this? It’s confusing me for when I go to follow people, thinking I have already followed people yet it’s wrong!

When I received this message, I immediately remembered watching a video, say goodbye to chicken skinthat Victoriadonelda posted on her YouTube channel a few months ago about KP and products that helped improve the skin condition. Now many of us with PCOS deal with skin problems such as acne, oily skin, skin tags, darkened and thickened skin in areas around the neck, groin, underarms, and skin folds. But since I posted that Q and A, it comes to my attention that many of us also have Keratosis Pilaris.

While many of us have noticed KP has cleared up slightly since treating our PCOS, I, along with others, have noticed it is still visible. So I wanted to share with you all Victoria’s video were she speaks about Keratosis Pilaris, shows you the products that have helped her tremendously and changed her life, as well as how to use each one.

DERMAdoctor has a section on their website for conditions ranging from dark circles, KP, acne, oily skin, and even sweating. All of which many with PCOS deal with!

I have personally not used the KP line yet, however I will be purchasing the products she mentioned in the near future. I know many of you are on budgets and in college, and some products can be expensive, but I value Victoria’s reviews and know that this purchase will be a great one for me. It’s a skincare line that I think is worthy of saving up to make a purchase for.

If you have any questions or would like to hear more about her experience with DERMAdoctor, you can find her Tumblr here!

I want to thank Victoriadonelda for allowing me to include her video in this post! If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t be aware of DERMAdoctor and be making this new purchase that I am excited about.

Would anyone be interested in a Tinychat this upcoming week? We haven’t done one in a while and last time it went so well! So who would be interested and would like another one?

If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to send a message! I’m here to talk, answer questions best I can, and help in anyway possible!

Please feel welcome to join the My PCOS Page. Just simply fill out this questionnaire and submit it! It’s a great way to meet others who have PCOS, share interests, and let others interact with you as well.

The very first Question of the Week will be posted shortly! For those unaware, a question will be posted once a week (re-blogged at least twice so others who didn’t see can respond) then OurPCOS Weeklies have the option to speak their opinion/thoughts in their weekly post. If they don’t, it’s completely fine, but on Sunday night when I type up the Weekly Roundup, I’ll include everyone’s response and I’ll give an overview on it, as well as my answer/thoughts and Ashley will as well if she is around at the time I make the post! It’s a new series here on OurPCOS and I think it’ll be a good way to get others opinions and thoughts on topics related to PCOS as well as health in general.

The Tinychat was a success, although more would have joined if it were earlier in their time zone and not so late. Next time the Tinychat will be set at a different time, possibly one that works a little easier for everyone time wise.

I want to thank everyone who joined and chatted with us over a wide range of topics from PCOS to Fortune Cookie soap and more!

OurPCOS will have it’s first ever Tinychat, so please feel welcome to join us! I am making another announcement Thursday night and possibly a few hours before it starts on Friday. Earlier on when I first created OurPCOS, I wanted a forum of sorts, so this will be sort of it, plus it’s a great way to interact with others and it’ll be a way for many of us to chat about anything and everything PCOS related!

Please join us if you would like!

I would like to welcome Ashley to OurPCOS as a member! She was one of the very first followers and now will be helping me run this blog because of health issues that have recently gotten bad. However, I will still be posting as she will also, and things will continue on as normal! She is so kind and understanding, so it’s a pleasure to have her along side me on OurPCOS!

Also, OurPCOS Weeklies will start this Monday! So far it goes as follows,

Monday - Ashley
Tuesday - Coleen
Wednesday - Michele
Thursday - Renee
Friday - Sam
Saturday - Pia

Sam and Pia will start sometime in the upcoming weeks.

Friday is still available, along with Thursday if anyone else would like to join. I have messaged two others, asking if they would like to be a part of OurPCOS Weeklies, so I am waiting to hear back. But Sunday will be a “guest” day, which will be for anyone who wants to post but doesn’t want to be a OurPCOS Weeklies regular.

If someone would like to be a “guest” on OurPCOS Weeklies, all you need to do is send a message before Sunday (preferably Thursday or Friday) then on Saturday night OR Sunday morning, submit your post and either Ashley or I will accept it!

Each and every one of you are strong and if you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to send an ask!
